The “Christ calls you…”: with Good News for the Poor and Vulnerable Life, Justice, and Peace Parish Leadership Gathering at the Pastoral Center on the Christ Cathedral campus will be on Sept. 7 from 9 a.m. to noon, with an 8 a.m. Mass beforehand.
The Office of Life, Justice & Peace (LJP) is hosting a gathering for parish leaders involved in life, justice, and peace ministry and for those interest in learning more and connecting. As Catholics and missionary disciples of Jesus first, we are all united in this mission of proclaiming the Good News of Jesus’ love for all, especially the poor and the vulnerable. We are invited to walk together in Eucharistic solidarity, nourished by our Lord to become what we receive.
This year we are collaborating with the Office of Evangelization and Faith Formation on an opportunity to help each of us reflect on our own particular vocation, our encounter with Christ, and how all the ministries of Life, Justice, and Peace with which we are involved are part of our evangelization. Pastor-appointed/recognized LJP parish reps are expected to attend. All are invited and welcome. Come as a parish team to learn, grow, and connect together.
During these years of Eucharistic Revival, Pope Francis (citing Benedict XVI) reminds us that “in the bread of the Eucharist, ‘creation is projected towards divinization, towards the holy wedding feast, towards unification with the Creator himself.’” Let us commit ourselves, “impelled by the Eucharist to hear the cry of the poor and respond in love … to hear the cry of the earth and, likewise, respond with loving care” (U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, The Mystery of the Eucharist in the Life of the Church, 2021).
