The Our Lady of La Vang Shrine will serve as a gathering point for the millions who visit the historical Christ Cathedral campus and be held in great esteem as a heritage site for the Vietnamese American community.
It is to be constructed in the northeast section of the Christ Cathedral plaza, known as the Marian Court. This shrine will be a focal point of the Marian Court, a majestic plaza that will eventually include other shrines dedicated to apparitions of the Blessed Mother the world over. On February 20, Diocese of Orange, Bishop Kevin Vann formally appointed Auxiliary Bishop of Orange Thanh Thai Nguyen as Episcopal Delegate to direct the fundraising and construction efforts, which are well underway.
The shrine is planned to be developed in six phases. Phase 2A includes the shrine, plinth, statue and Alpha. The shrine is being designed by an architect team with extensive experience in a wide range of large projects in the United States and Vietnam. They collaborate with three diocesan architectural firms under the guidance of bishops and clergy.
